The wait for GCSE results is over as students across the country returned to school one final time to collect their grades. Spirits were high for Year 11 students at Oasis Academy Lister Park, Bradford, as they looked forward to taking their next steps today after securing some great results.

Attainment is higher than in previous years with an increased percentage of students passing both English and maths, opening doors to college courses and wider options. Results in the EBacc are also good with more students than ever achieving success across the EBacc subjects. Many students received superb individual results and took great pleasure in celebrating their achievements.

Afra Khan secured a grade 9 and grade 8 in English and maths, gaining 9 qualifications at grade 7 or better.  She will be going on to study A-levels in maths, biology and chemistry and is keen to pursue a career in medicine. Ishaq Mahmood was also proud of his results, achieving grade 8 in maths and RE, a Distinction* in sport, a Distinction in IT and grade 7s in English language, science and geography. He will be studying psychology, sport and science at Oasis Academy Lister Park.

Other students were also delighted with their grades. Kiran Dar achieved grade 7s and 8s in a raft of subjects, and Mehreen Nisar was over the moon with her achievements, attaining a grade 9 in English language and English literature, a Distinction* in music, Distinction in business and strong grades across all her other subjects.

Siân Dover, Principal at Oasis Academy Lister Park, commented on the students’ successes saying, “We are thrilled for our young people who have worked so hard for these results. At Oasis Academy Lister Park we are passionate about giving our students the opportunities they need to make great progress and flourish. This year, more of our students than ever are leaving us with the qualifications they need to take the next step towards a fulfilling career.”

“Today is also an important testimony and a credit to our fantastic teachers who are so dedicated to our students, enabling them to do their very best. Students and staff at our academy were badly affected by Covid-19 and we are delighted at the resilience they showed in spite of the challenges we faced. We can now continue to move forward and do the best for our academy and its community.”

Megan Daly, Head of Year 11 at Oasis Academy Lister Park, added; “We are delighted for all our students on their results today – they have worked really hard and reaped the rewards. We wish them all the best in their next chapter, wherever that may be. Their achievements are an inspiration to the younger students of what can be achieved.”
