ERON has shared with us how he created his composition whilst in lockdown.
It all started with a chord progression I learned on guitar about five or six years ago (Em, C, G, D), these chords stuck with me since. I used it as a starting base to create “Solitude”. My inspiration for this song was Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. I always loved how to song just keeps progressing and keeps bring more and more energy.
The track starts of with two guitars. One playing chord the other playing an arpeggio. Creating a calm atmosphere. These two elements have been created a long time ago, I just never knew how to add them to a song. After that I introduce a vocal chop by filtering it in. I wasn’t going to drag the song for too long as the attention span of listening to songs has decreased over the years therefore I introduce the drums to keep it interesting. The drums were a real challenge as I am not a drummer and I wanted the drums to feel somewhat realistic even though they are digital. Then I added a bass as without it sounded very thin. The electric guitar solo was also a challenge even though I am a guitarist. Creating a solo is easy but creating a solo which you can hum is where the challenge begins. After a night of solo ideas I combined two ideas to form the solo you hear in the song. After the solo you get to the finale which introduces the rhythm guitar. After I had my layout it was time to mix and master the song so it sounds good.
I made this song because I always wanted to make a rock song with drums and guitars and this is so far the closest I got to a rock song. I titled it Solitude as it’s what the song made me imagine. However the story of the song is what ever you imagination comes up with.
